Welcome! My name is Al (she/they), and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience working with adults across the lifespan. I have a passion for working with clients with complex PTSD, depression, grief, and anxiety. I am also a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and enjoy working with neurodivergent populations.
My approach to therapy is person-centered and humanistic. My goal is to create a safe space that holds your emotions so you can explore them freely without judgment. I believe all clients arrive with their own set of unique strengths that contribute to the therapeutic collaboration. As a social worker who has had experience within various systems, I honor the history my clients bring into the room and believe healing happens in moments of connection.
I utilize self-compassionate, mindful, and narrative approaches in therapy, and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I often integrate other evidence-based modalities into sessions, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and Behavioral Activation.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, cooking, hiking, and spending quality time with my family and fur babies.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and obtained my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
