Meet Brittany
“Relationships matter: The currency for systemic change was trust, and trust comes through forming healthy working relationships. People, not programs, change people.”
– Dr. Bruce Perry
My name is Brittany (she/her), and I am an Advanced Practice Social Worker who loves working with people across the lifespan. I particularly enjoy working with children ages 6+, adolescents, and young adults. One of my main goals is to create a space where all of those I work with feel welcome, comfortable, and seen, so they are ready to build the trust needed to support their well-being.
We never truly know what a person has experienced in their lives or what they are experiencing day to day. I am passionate about supporting those who have experienced trauma, and I have experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence, childhood abuse, and neglect. Depression and anxiety may be present as well. I want to meet every person I work with where they are in their journey and support them in exploring and uplifting their strengths, whatever they may be. I center my work in inclusivity and enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ and gender-expansive children, youth, and adults, as well as neurodiverse individuals (including ADHD and autism) and people with disabilities.
As a School Social Worker for six years, I am incredibly passionate about supporting children, families, and anyone connected with the education system. I understand how difficult it can be to navigate friendships, challenging behaviors, or even career decisions in a school setting. My goal is to support others in navigating the education system and fostering skills to succeed in a system that can feel unsupportive to so many.
I draw on a variety of modalities to support those I work with and consider my approach to be holistic, with a trauma-informed lens. I incorporate mindfulness techniques, play therapy, CBT, ACT, and DBT when working with clients and always work to center those I support as the leaders and experts of their own lives.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and English Literature from UW–Madison and my Master’s degree in Social Work from UW–Madison. In my free time, I enjoy reading, crocheting, practicing yoga, hiking, watching movies, and spending time with my family and cats.
